WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING?
To help us maintain a safe and healthy program, children are required to bring a bag or backpack that contains the following items:
A water bottle.
Nut-free lunch and snacks.
A frozen juice box or ice pack to keep lunch cold.
Wipes to clean hands/face (these do not need to be sanitizer-grade).
Hand sanitizer.
Rain jacket and/or umbrella. On days where it is drizzling or rained overnight, please sent a towel or something for your child to sit on.
Proper footwear for active play. No flip-flops or crocs as those fall off feet easily.
Sunblock should be applied before drop-off. Game Lab staff are not responsible for children’s sunblock use.
Electronic devices are discouraged. Children will be asked to put them away. If your child uses a phone to contact you, they may bring it and leave it in their backpack. It is to be used only for emergency reasons OR when Lab is dismissed (for children who walk home on their own).
In addition, objects that other children will want to lean in to see (like Pokemon cards) are also discouraged.
WHAT ARE YOUR COVID SAFETY POLICIES?
We are continuously evaluating health and safety recommendations and incorporating these into our policies and procedures. Please visit our COVID Plan page for more details.
WHAT IF IT RAINS OR THERE IS A HEAT ADVISORY?
We have successfully run fun and engaging Outdoor programs since the end of June 2020 and throughout the 2020/21 school year in the sun, rain, and yes, even snow. Our goal is to remain outdoors as much as possible and have adapted our program to different weather conditions.
In the event of inclement weather, we may need to cancel or shorten the day's session. This will only occur as a last resort, and only if children’s comfort and safety is significantly compromised by rain, thunderstorm activity, or severe heat.
If we cancel the full day, we will run the day's session online.
In the rare instance we cancel while the session is in progress, we will notify you immediately and your child must be picked up as soon as possible. (If your child is registered for Late Pick Up, we will take your child to the Lab for the designated pick up time.) Children who have permission to self-dismiss will be allowed to leave.
In addition, on days when there are Heat Advisories we may choose to implement an extreme heat safety schedule where we take the children inside to cool down in air-conditioning for one hour mid-day for lunch. We will email and text families if we plan to do this— families will have the option to pick up early before the children go inside.
CAN MY CHILD STAY LONGER THAN 3PM?
We offer late pick up at our Center Slope location (310 7th Ave @8th St.) The children with this add-on are brought into the Lab around 3PM for 3 hours of extra game time. If you need to add late pick up after your order has been placed, you can contact us at frontdesk@brooklyngamelab.com
UPDATE PICKUP LIST, APPROVE SELF-DISMISSAL or ADD FRIEND REQUESTS!
You can add someone to my approved pick up list, give my child permission to self-dismiss, or add friend requests! Here’s how to update “Sawyer” (the software we use for registration):
1 - Click the link below for our registration provider.
2 - Click the “Hi ‘name’” in the upper right corner or log in. IMPORTANT! Do not create a new account to log in. You must use the e-mail address(es) that you have used to register for our programs, as your e-mail address is how they system IDs you. If your child has taken a program with us, your information is definitely in our system -- it just may be under a different e-mail address that you or others in your family use.
3 - Update approved pick up list: After logging in, hover over your name in the upper right corner. A pop up box will appear with choices including Profiles. Click on “My profile” to access your information. Scroll down to check the following fields and update as necessary to ensure we have the name and contact number of anyone who has permission to pick up your child from our program.
Your profile name and number
Secondary contact name and number
Caregiver contact name and number
Click Save profile before navigating away from this page.
To grant temporary permission to a babysitter, friend, another parent, etc. to pick up your child, please message frontdesk@brooklyngamelab.com with their name and phone number.
4 - To add self-dismissal for a child: Hover over your name in the upper right corner. Under Profiles, click on the name of your child. Scroll down to the Provider Form Fields for Brooklyn Game Lab which includes the self-dismissal field and update. Children who have permission to self-dismiss still need to sign out with their instructor before self-dismissing.
5 - To add friend requests: Hover over your name in the upper right corner. Under Profiles, click on the name of your child. Scroll down to the Provider Form Fields for Brooklyn Game Lab and fill out the friends field. We will group friends together whenever their registrations overlap.
